Our Story
ZHENNA LAY is an Australian seafood specialist based in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast, Queensland. We work with licensed fishing fleets and established aquaculture partners across New Zealand, the Pacific and the coastal waters of eastern Australia to bring premium, traceable seafood to home cooks, restaurants and food lovers who care about where their food comes from.
Our range is intentionally small and deliberately chosen. Every line we carry — from New Zealand scampi and live oysters to dried sea cucumber and razor clam meat — is selected for texture, flavour and consistency. We would rather carry ten products we stand behind than a hundred we don't.
How We Source
We buy from partners who can document where a product was caught or farmed, when, and how it was handled. Wild-caught product is sourced from managed fisheries; farmed product comes from operators who meet recognised food-safety and environmental standards. Orders are graded and packed by hand before dispatch.
Cold Chain, End to End
Seafood is only as good as the chain that carries it. Frozen and chilled products are packed in insulated liners with dry ice or gel packs, and dispatched on a schedule designed to keep product in temperature from our packing room to your door. We monitor our packing process closely because a broken cold chain cannot be undone in the kitchen.
What We Believe
- Honest product information. We describe origin, form and preparation clearly, including allergens such as shellfish and crustaceans.
- Respect for the catch. Seafood is a finite resource. We favour suppliers who fish responsibly and handle product with care.
- Straightforward service. Clear shipping windows, honest delivery estimates and a real person to answer your questions.
